FREE WAYS TO MARKET YOUR BUSINESS
Creating an account within Google is the basic foundation for digital marketing. With a Google account, you can create a Google My Business listing, create a business YouTube account, track the traffic on your website with Google Analytics and more.
It all starts with a Gmail email account. Your Gmail email address is your Google login and the password you set up with the Gmail email address is your Google password.
GOOGLE MY BUSINESS
Be found in Google Search results by creating a Google My Business account. Whether you have a website or not, it’s important to have a Google My Business account so your business appears accurately on Google Maps and is properly represented in search results.
GETTING SET UP
Follow this link to get started. Next, find your business on the map or add it to Google Maps. You will need to verify your ownership of the business. In Montana, this is often done by Google
sending you a postcard with a verification code. In larger markets, it is done with a telephone call verification. While waiting for verification, complete your listing by entering your days / hours of operation, contact information such as telephone number and website address, logo, business overview and images of your business and services. In a few days, the postcard with verification code will arrive, enter the code and your listing will be visible on Google.
Once your listing is live, your business will appear on Google Maps and in search results. Your search result listing, which is located to the right of Google search results, features your company name, address, telephone number, hours of operation, your location on the map and your logo. Customers are able to review your company here and add their photos of your business. With just a click, searchers can go directly to your website or get direction – handy for mobile phone users!
GOOGLE+ FOR BUSINESS PAGE
Similar to Facebook, Google+ is Google’s social platform. Here you can post images, connect your YouTube account so new uploads automatically show on you Google+ page and update your followers similar to Facebook. And I know what you are thinking “Ugh! yet another social platform to update!” Yes and no. Yes it is another place you must post but no, you do not have to physically do it yourself. For my business, I create recipes using If This Then That IFTTT.
IF THIS – If I post an update on Savard Hospitality’s Facebook page, THEN THAT – the post automatically posts to Savard Hospitality’s Google+ page. IFTTT is a free service, how awesome is that? Learn more here.
Google+ is not as widely used as Facebook. So why is Google+ important? Google features Google+ Business profiles in search engine results! I believe in creating a large digital presence to help customers find my clients and my business on the internet. More and more, potential customers search the internet before picking up the yellow pages or even before asking friends. CREATE AN ALERT FOR YOUR COMPANY
