What does a Hospitality Consultant do?
Often when meeting new people, I’m asked what I do for a living. I reply, “I’m a hospitality consultant”. The next questions is always,”What does a hospitality consultants do?” For me, that’s a simple and yet complicated question.
By definition, a hospitality consultant is someone works with members of the hospitality industry to start, improve, or renovate businesses. Hospitality consultants often choose to specialize in a particular area of the industry, like restaurant management or resorts, in order to offer the best services to their clients.
For Savard Hospitality Consulting, Inc, I do a variety of tasks for clients from Maine to Montana. Much of my work includes consulting on and creating marketing campaigns, online presence analysis and website development. Often I’m asked to weigh in on topics from Start up / Turn Arounds, employee health insurance to property management systems. I attend consumer shows for clients, I manage Facebook pages, I help clients manage their online reputation and I help build exit strategies for owners. I work with destination marketing associations, with management teams and with small business owners.
The common theme with all of our clients is the great outdoors. Fishing lodges, luxury resorts, tourism destinations and upscale vacation rentals in areas boasting great fly fishing, snowmobiling, skiing, hiking and hunting are our specialty. Drawing on 22 years experience owning and growing the Cabins at Lopstick in New Hampshire, we develop creative marketing strategies and offer solutions and advice. Most consultants specialize in a segment of the hospitality industry, for our firm, it’s destination fly fishing.
